First published — and sold out — in 2012, this beautiful book now includes a new chapter on Pavlova’s tours to North and South America, as well as pictures with Charlie Chaplin. Richly illustrated with performance and off-stage photographs the book focuses on Pavlova as a modern woman who controlled her own career and image. It also reveals her interest in a wide range of dance forms, which she discovered on her world travels, and acknowledges her legacy for subsequent generations as the ballerina whose name still resonates. The only Pavlova book currently in print in English, the profits will be given to the Bursary Fund for students at The Royal Ballet School. Author: Jane Pritchard, Dance Historian, is the Curator of Dance at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and co curator of Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballet, she is also co-editor of the book of the same title. Caroline Hamilton is a dance and costume historian.
